The first thing you noticed when opening this page (other than the header) was the two donate buttons to "Compassion For Others" charity. I know this was a "in your face" approach to asking for your help in aiding the charity, but, the needs of those less fortunate is an everyday "in your face" view. We can't help but see or hear about the unemployment situation, home foreclosures etc. Church and secular food pantries are scrambling for every penny and still are coming up short and not being able to help the way they want. Folks the plain truth is " The Government will not, has not, and will not be able to take on all those that need help. I know that there are a lot of organizations asking for your money and money is tight with all that our economy is going thru and the uncertainty where our government will make cuts. Couple this with the world disasters and many organizations asking for help local charities are hurting for resources. The question comes down to this: Do we save the house that is on fire across town or do we fight the fire in our own home first?

Why should you care about those people in Caldwell County and surrounding area in Missouri? Let me answer that question with another one. Why should we have cared about the people in Haiti when the earthquake hit or the people in Southeast Asia when the tsunami hit? We at the Bethuel Baptist Church cannot feed, clothe or give aid to all those in the world or USA for that matter, and neither can our government. We can try and must help those in our community. It is to say at the least, disconcerting to tell someone who needs help "sorry, we have no means to help."

I personally have seen senior citizens and even young couples get into serious problems because they can no longer afford heat or food due to a job loss or health problems and they cannot afford to eat healthy, pay for heat, meet their deductible for medicine, pay rent  or even replace worn clothing. We are a small church that cannot help those people like we would like, so we are reaching out to you and asking for your help. Now before you think that there are federal and state aid available heres some interesting facts:

According to globalissues .org the US spends more than other countries in total dollars, as a percentage it gives a total annual 25 billion dollars away a year! Mostly to countries who don't need it, and or hate the USA. Amazingly under President Obama, he has had the largest increases in welfare benefits in U.S. history according to heritage.org a conservative think tank. This will lead to a spending total of $10.3 trillion over  the next decade on various welfare programs. These include cash payments, food, housing, Medicaid and various social services for low-income Americans and those at 200 percent of the poverty level, or $44,000 for a family of four. Among that total, $7.5 trillion will be federal money and $2.8 trillion will be federally mandated state expenditures. Add that to the foreign aid bill which will be more than 250 billion dollars in the next decade. This twice the budget of President George W. Bush. Yet with all this so called help which absolutely the U.S. cannot afford (as we all know that as a country, we are in pretty bad shape  economically) I see very little help at least were I live. As a matter of fact, state and local government entitlements have been reduced and the guide lines to get help have tightened it seems in the wrong direction.

I don't want to start on a preaching rant (too late?) but just wanted you to simply know that if you can give as God has blessed you by even a dollar or two, maybe even give 100.00 you will be touching lives that are truly needing help, for food, clothes and emergency relief. Not one "thin dime" goes to Bethuel Baptist Church, it all goes for the charity, not buildings, salaries, dinners for church members or anything else but for the items that people need. If you have either a Amazon or PayPal account you can transfer your donation from them or you may use a debit or credit card. If you can't give then please pray for those in Caldwell County and surrounding communities in Missouri. The Lord said that "The poor you will always have with you." We cant kill this Goliath but we can, with the Lords help through your compassion, put a giant dent in his helmet.

Thank you for your prayers and time.
